FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Below are a selection of most frequently asked questions. Please contact us should you have further questions.
How do I contact you or make an appointment?
To book an appointment, please complete the New Enquiry Contact Form on the contact page.
For a brief informal discussion about your needs, please email any questions to info@ ?????.co.uk. We will only offer an assessment appointment if we feel we can help you with your difficulties and think your needs are within our area of competence and expertise.
What to expect from starting a therapeutic intervention
The initial assessment sessions (up to three) will explore what brings you to therapy, your therapeutic goals, when / how the problem first developed, and what might be maintaining your difficulties. This overview will help you and your therapist develop a collaborative treatment plan tailored to your needs.
There is no obligation to engage in therapy after the assessment, but if you wish to start an intervention, we will discuss the most appropriate therapeutic method, as well as the frequency and the approximate number of sessions needed to achieve your goals.
All sessions last 50 minutes.
How do I pay for sessions?
Fees are payable weekly via bank transfer.
How can I find out if my health insurance will cover my fees?
You will need to check with your health insurance provider. Many companies may cover fees for a limited number of sessions. If you need additional sessions, you will have to discuss this with your insurer or decide if you wish to pay for additional sessions. Mindscape Psychology Clinic will not impose extra fees, such as ‘top-up’ or ‘administration’ charges, if your insurer has a limit on session fees. Keep in mind that your insurance policy may require an ‘excess’ payment on claims, which will be due to Mindscape Psychology Clinic.
It is important to ensure that your treatment is covered by your insurer; if you are not covered, you will be responsible for fees incurred. Also, if your insurance coverage reaches its limit and you choose to continue with self-funding, sessions will be charged at the self-funding rate.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions needed can differ based on the individual and their specific needs. Some people may require a short-term intervention of about 8 to 12 sessions, while others may need more time to address their challenges and develop coping strategies.
Do you work with children and teenagers?
Yes, we provide services for 'young adults', starting at age sixteen. We also offer parenting sessions for younger children. Additionally, we offer assessments for learning difficulties, both for younger children and adolescents.
What if my struggles are not listed among the difficulties you treat—can you still help me?
It's common for people to sense that something is off without knowing exactly what the issue is. Our role is to help you understand your challenges during the assessment session. Our list of treated difficulties isn’t exhaustive, and we may still be able to assist you. Feel free to call for a brief conversation to determine if an assessment session might be beneficial.
I feel very nervous talking about my difficulties…
It is very common to feel anxious or nervous before meeting with someone to talk about your difficulties for the first time, this is to be expected. You will be put at ease as much as is possible and the sessions will be paced to suit you. You do not have to talk about anything that makes you feel very uncomfortable if you do not want to and this will be respected.
What do you do with the information I give you/how do you store your data?
We recognize that the information you share is very personal, and we take its protection seriously. It is standard practice for clinicians to keep notes from sessions. At Mindscape Psychology Clinic we comply with UK data protection laws, and we are fully registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
